Honourable mentions:
  • Doom Classic Complete on PSN UK for $5, cult-classic FPS game. Until 21st.
  • Tokyo Jungle on PSN UK for $6.1 ($5.4 with +), underrated PS3 Exclusive game. Until 21st.
  • inFamous Collection also on PSN UK for $15.1 ($13.6 with +). Contains all three PS3 Exclusive inFamous games (inFamous, inFamous 2, inFamous Festival of Blood). Until 21st.
  • Tales of Graces f + Xillia Bundle on PSN UK for $18.2. Two of the best JRPGs on PS3. Was $30 (or $15 with +) on PSN US. This is your chance to get them again at bargain price if you missed them. Until 21st.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon requires you to be a member of HK PSN PS Plus. If you are not a Plus member, the price bumped into US$13.6.

inFamous First Light is a PS4 game that made it into this list, however it requires you to be a member of JP PSN PS Plus, and linked a local Japanese credit card. This is a requirement for purchasing a rated CERO Z games on PSN Japan. We do aware that the non-Japanese PSN JP member who can take advantage of this deal are extremely rare, but that person might just be you.

Vampire Resurrection is the original Japanese version of Darkstalkers Resurrection. It has the original Japanese character naming (Hsien-Ko original name is Lei-Lei, and so on). Major parts of the game is in English, with minor parts such as winning quotes are in Japanese. source

Nascar '14 surely catched our attention. The game just out in 2014 and now getting a steep discount for 94% off its original GBP 40 price tag to GBP 2.5 and it is surely tempting.

Borderlands 2 was taken down despite it was listed as expiring on 22nd. While Dead Space, Sleeping Dogs, and Hitman Absolution are extended into 22nd, they were supposed to be expired on 8th.

We also checked the PS4 section from PSN UK but nothing is worth mentioning, you can check the list here. No PS4 games share the same price with PS3 this time. Except for some indies and crossbuys.

Nothing from US PSN this week, except for one deal from a third party online store. This is unusual since PSN US usually got the best sale from all PSN stores. We hope next week will be better. US PSN got 20th Anniversary Sale, check it here.

To purchase Plus membership, go here for USUKHK, or JP.
30 days membership starts at $10 for PSN US, or $8.9 for PSN UK, or $5 for PSN HK, or $4.3 for PSN JP.

Some other deals ongoing:
  1. Final Fantasy XIV free to play for 14 days on UK and US PSN. PS3 version only available in US PSN.
  2. Uncharted 3 is re-offered as IGC for UK PSN Plus members. Not available on US/HK/JP PSN.
  3. Sing popular song in English, or perhaps even Anime/Game songs and K-POPs at affordable price. Read our guide for Joysound TV Plus.
  4. English version of Fantasy Hero (Vita) is available only on US PSN. Timed-exclusive until Q1 2015.
  5. Resident Evil Remastered will only be priced for $19.99 on US PSN and for those who preorder now will get PS3/PS4 crossbuy privilege. This price is alot cheaper than the $33.6 full price on JP PSN, currently the only PSN that host this game. Click here to preorder.

NOTE: Information about English language availability for games from JP PSN is taken from Gaijin Gamers. We do not personally tried the titles.

Honourable mention: Policenauts (PSOne Classic) on PSN JP at $4.2, Japanese only cult-classic. Only until January 7th.

Virtua Fighters 5: Final Showdown is presumed supporting English language, this is because the original Virtua Fighters 5 is fully supporting English language even from Japanese PSN. Moreover, the US/UK version of the game fully support Japanese so it has a big chance that the game is the same all regions.

Nascar '14 surely catched our attention. The game just out in 2014 and now getting a steep discount for 94% off its original GBP 40 price tag to GBP 2.5 and it is surely tempting. We hope you find something you like from the list.

Lara Croft and The Guardian of Light (English) is free until Xmas Eve, here's how to get yours.

UPDATE: Sorry folks, this deal has expired. Do not miss any other deals, visit our site psnworldupdates.blogspot.com to learn more about the other ongoing sales.

To celebrate the launch of Lara Croft and The Temple of Osiris, Famitsu gives away the prequel for free until Christmas Eve. This is available for every JP PSN members all around the world. And just like the 3 free EA games couple weeks ago, this game will be yours forever. Here is how to get yours.

Before starting, you need to register yourself on PSN Japan, skip this if you already a member of JP PSN. If you are not yet a member, the great news is that the registration is free and open to everyone everywhere in the world, it doesn't care what nationality you are or where you live, you can also check the FAQ if you are in doubt. Here's a full-pictures tutorial: Setting up JP PSN (Incl. purchase tutorial). No top-up vouchers required, this game is free.

After setting up your own JP PSN, we are now in business. Open this link to Famitsu from your PC.

That is likely the screen you will see upon clicking the link, just scroll to the most top down part.

When you reached the most top down part, you will see a white empty box and that is where you need to type your email address. No limitation here, you can even use your email associated with US/UK/HK PSN or any email not registered on PSN. One thing for sure, is that email is yours and you can open it, since we have to open it real soon. Click the small button next to the box after you finished.

You will receive a new mail from Famitsu, click the link provided. This is only a verification that your email is active.

The link direct you into this page without any code or whatsoever, but they are not deceiving you, open your email again now and refresh the inbox.

In this new mail, you will see a 12 digits alphanumerical code such as : A12B-C34D-E56F.
Remember that code or write it down. You'll need it soon.

Now from your PS3, switch to your JP PSN account and sign in to PSN. When the Account Management icon appears, click it. And then select the icon shown above.

Do what it said on the picture above. Forgot to mention, left button is Cancel, and right button is Proceed.

After it is registered to background download, you can now switch back to your own main PSN account. Note: make sure your PS3 system language is in English. The game may be in Japanese if you use another language.

A quick check at the details reveal that the game has No Time Limit under JP account. In my case I have this game on Asian PSN as a free PS+ game this month, so it will expires when my PS+ expire. And I actually confused why this game display the details for two different account, but perhaps the game for JP PSN is the exact same release with Asian PSN. Maybe the DLCs are interchangeable.

The game's health warning is in Japanese, but the title screen, options etc are in English, I tried the
in-game manuals and they are also in English. So yeah, this is an English game indeed. Sorry for the crappy camshot though.

Time to kick some monsters!

GUIDE: Registration tutorial for Final Fantasy XIV ~A Realm Reborn~ on PS3

UPDATE: Added UK PSN PS4 version free trial information
UPDATE2: The JP PSN Free trial period has ended. However free trial now available from US PSN as well and in English.

As explained in our other post, while Final Fantasy XIV -A Realm Reborn- itself is 100% in English, it is covered with a thin layer of registration process conducted in Japanese. So here's step by step of what you need to do to register yourself on the PS3 version. Exclusive for the PS4 version, free trial available from UK PSN for Plus members and the registration process is completely in English. So you may prefer that one instead.

If you are wondering what you need to get this game from PSN, we already cover it in this post.

After you finished downloading the game off PSN (6.3GB for PS3), install it (it will takes a while). And after the installation finished, you will notice that the title is now in English: Final Fantasy XIV -A Realm Reborn-. Launch and play the game under your Japanese PSN account only. Launching it under another account will prompt you to enter Promotion Code which you don't have. Before continuing any further, make sure your PS3 or PS4 system language is set to English.

The several first screen are in English, including the Square Enix screen that ask you for Square Enix ID. However, the ID we need here is Square Enix Japan ID, not your European or American one. So we need to make new ID here. Choose to create a new account and now is the time for some Japanese, click the pictures to enlarge:

Notice that X and O button action may be swapped, with O as confirmation and X as cancel. You can also use USB keyboard here. Type anything you desire just like any other registration screen. It is suggested to use the same name as your Japanese PSN ID, also same password, and same email (password are case sensitive, and prepare your PC/phone, since you'll need to open your email soon) . Check availability of your name and if the text that pop-out coloured red, then it means it is occupied. Green means available. Click Next when done.

Your email should be displayed on the first line above. Check your inbox to open an email from autoinfo_jp. Your code will be 8 alphanumeric digits such as: ABCD1XYZ. Enter it to the vacant white box, it is case sensitive so make sure you've turned on your Caps-Lock. Click Next when done.

Just a welcome screen. Click Next.

Your Square Enix ID and your Japanese PSN ID will be displayed. If both are the same name, then it will be the same name listed twice. Click Link Account.

This is what you will use your service for. The title said: Final Fantasy XIV -A Realm Reborn- Free Trial PlayStation 3. Just click Next.

This is the Licence Agreement screen, basically means don't share account, don't cheat, and be a good kid online. Check the box and click Next.

Depends on the screen, you may or may not need to scroll down to reach the bottom part where the buttons are. Just click Next after you found them.

Yay! Just click Next.

And we're back in the land of English-speakers. You'll have to download a hefty file (around 10GBs for PS3). Depends on your connection speed, you may need to leave your console turned on and go take a walk in the park. (Disable any auto shutdown feature and do not quit the game)

The next time you enter FF14, you'll be greeted directly into this screen. You will never see any Japanese again. You can't change the ID so just type your password (Case sensitive). Leave the third box empty and click Log In.

When everything is done, you'll be greeted with the title card of the game. Don't worry about the tiny Japanese translation. The game is in English. Don't trust me? Well, uh....

 North American server. Check.

European server. Check.

Choose any servers that isn't Japanese. After that you will immediately be greeted with the gorgeous looking, English-narrated and English-subtitled opening FMV. Enjoy it.

You'll need to create a character now. Notice that it says how many days remaining on the bottom right. I wonder if they will let us keep the game and just purchase a subscription ticket.

Time to put those designing skills into use.

The graphic is gorgeous even for PS3, sadly no voice-overs.

And time to play the first quest.

I hope this tutorial helps you. If you have any questions leave it on the comment box below.
